The now fully restored Gundaroo Colonial Inn also known as Matt Crowe's Wine Bar, has had continuous operation since it was established in 1872.

It provides accommodation, a bar and restaurant and has a comprehensive selection of local wines and take-out bottle shop.  It is a friendly and inviting place and just the thing for parties and functions.

The owners have utilized both recycled timber and locally sourced new timber to restore the whole area using a combination of Iron Bark, Red Gum, Black But and Yellow Box.  Many walls and existing fireplaces have been preserved and given new Red Gum mantelpieces.

Some very special and individual features have been included in the restoration such as the star inset in the new Star Saloon Bar made from Red Gum, and railings around the walls, made from the raw tree edge of Iron Bark.  The bar has become a major talking point, as it is a huge slab of beautiful Iron Bark, Polished with a raw timber edge;  it literally draws people to the beer taps.

The old family cottage area has now been transformed into a modern kitchen for Crowe's Restaurant. The Stringy Bark Function Room is a separate area for functions, private meetings or gatherings.  The Red Gum Licensed Bottle Shop enables people to browse and choose their wines.  We are a big supporter of Canberra's Regional Wines and serve a range of hearty country meals.
